Elite Sportswear Acquires Dreamlight Activewear

Elite Sportswear, the parent company of gymnastics leotard manufacturer GK Elite, has acquired leotard company Dreamlight Activewear, Elite announced Thursday.

Dreamlight Activewear, headquartered in Virginia Beach, Va., was founded in 1989. It has been innovative in its introduction of new textiles to gymnastics leotards, such as metallics and sheer mesh, and is also noted for its decorative techniques, such as fabric appliqué and Swarovski crystals.

Dreamlight Activewear owner Annette Harvey said she was excited about her company's acquisition.

"We are thrilled to become a part of the Elite Sportswear Family," Harvey said. "We share the same passion for the sport of gymnastics and together will continue to provide the most innovative and quality apparel on the market."

In edition to its GK gymnastics brand, Elite Sportswear manufactures several lines of cheerleading outfits as well as Dolfin Swimwear. The company is headquartered in Reading, Pennsylvania.

"As the global leader in Gymnastics, we believe the addition of Dreamlight to our portfolio of brands provides us with tremendous opportunity for growth and synergy," said Dan Casciano, CEO of Elite Sportswear, in a statement. "Together, we are excited to continue to drive best in class innovation, design and fit for the sport of gymnastics."

Dreamlight Activewear has outfitted numerous clubs and teams, including the Venezuelan women's squad. Three-time Olympian Jessica López has worn Dreamlight for many years and has her own line, the "J.Lo" Collection, launched in 2015.
