Chinese Coast to Lead in Qualification
(0 votes, average 0 out of 5)
The Chinese men as expected dominated team qualification, taking the top spots in five of the eight contests.

Two-time world champion Yang Wei led China as the top individual qualifier. His only major mistake was sitting down on the parallel bars after a glide.

All the gold medal favorites led their specialities in the race to qualify for apparatus finals. China's Xiao Qin (pommel horse), Chen Yibing (still rings) and Li Xiaopeng easily qualified first to finals.

The other events were all led by current or former world champions: Brazil's Diego Hypolito was first on floor exercise, Romania's Marian Dragulscu on vault and Germany's Fabian Hambüchen on high bar.
